| Always make sure that your
dog has plenty of fresh water available and always ensure you top
up a few sources of drinking water before you go out for any length
of time |
| Never ever leave your dog
in the car when it's hot. Even if the windows are down dogs can overheat
quickly. If necessary tie them up in the shade with a bowl of drinking
water. Preferably leave them at home in a cool shady area |
| In the warm weather put
chopped doggie treats in an ice cube tray, pour water over and freeze
overnight. Dogs love these cooling treats. |
| Ensure that your dog gets
regular exercise. Dogs are full of energy and a bored dog will become
a nuisance by barking or chewing. At least one walk per day is important.
Throw a ball or a stick for them to chase if you don't have the energy
but walking keeps humans fit and healthy too. |

Zobi came from the Animal Welfare
League at Coombabah. She'd been there a while and even though
all the staff loved her to pieces and knew she was a lovely
dog they couldn't find a suitable home.
She's been living with the people who eventually took her home
for 5 years now and is a happy healthy girl. From a scared dog
that didn't even want to look at the hydrobath, she now gets
in happily on her own - much to everyones delight and we are
proud to have her as Howleys Hound of the Month |
